Geology and Mining Department
- The Department has successfully e-auctioned 384 Minor Mineral Blocks (1st & 2nd Phase) in J&K (UT) and 374 Letter of Intents (LoIs) have been issued.
- The Department has till date granted 63 Mining leases in respect of E-auctioned Minor Mineral blocks, 17 STP’s to various State and Central Government Agencies executing different Projects for the development of JK (UT) at suitably identified surveyed sites i.e PMGSY, GAYATRI PVT LTD, TARMET PVT LTD,KRCL (Konkan Railways Corporation Ltd, Hindustan Construction Company, M/S Age Patel Pvt Ltd, M/S Gammon India, M/S TRG Industries Pvt Ltd (AAI)M/S KCC Build con (AIR FORCE) etc.
- 365 Mining Plans have been approved by the District LevelMining Plan Approval Committee under the Chairmanship of concerned Deputy Commissioner of District.
- The Department has granted 09 Mining Leases/Quarry Licenses in favour of Private Individuals/Agencies in different Districts of J&K. Besides, the Department have issued 215 Short Term Permits/ Disposal Permits to various Government Departments / Principal Executing Agencies for important Infrastructural developmental Projects/Government works in J&K(UT) under S.O No.1224(E) issued by Ministry of Environment , Forest & Climate Change provides for Exemption of certain cases from requirement of Environmental Clearance i.e Extraction or sourcing or borrowing of ordinary earth for linear projects such as, roads pipe line etc.
- The Department have granted 08 Mining Leases in favour of PSU’s (JK Minerals & JKPCC) for supply of the Construction material to the Government Constructing agencies for prestigious projects in J&K UT viz; AIIMS, Expansion of Civil Airport, Ring Road, Jammu Baramulla Rail Line.
- The Department has facilitated a lot the Successful Bidders to get their Environment Clearance & Consent to Operate granted/issued by JKEIAA & J&K Pollution Control Board in respect of E-auctioned Minor Mineral Blocks.
- The Department has constituted a Committee in both the Divisions of J&K UT for identification and carving out Minor Mineral Blocks in left out area of J&K.
- The proposal of Surveillance System is under way to curb illegal Mining Activities and Monitoring their Mining Operations in J&K UT while construction of Various Check posts , installation of CCTV cameras at Prime Locations, Introducing E-challans for transportation of material and only authorized GPS system shall be allowed for transportation of mineral. Out of 111 sanctioned Mineral Check Posts under Languishing Projects 11 Mineral Check Posts have been got functional in J&K (UT).
- Collaborative work with GSI for Major Mineral Exploration/ Exploitation (Limestone in Districts of Anantnag, Pulwama etc.) is in progress.
- The Department has completed 80% construction of Regional Office Accommodation Building at Pandrethan Kashmir and has initiated process of construction of Double Storey District Mineral Office Budgam and strengthening/raising of boundary walls of Sub stores Brijbhera, Kashmir.
- The Department has received more than 65 Minor Mineral Blocks approved from Deputy Commissioner Concerned for grant of Short Term Permit in favour Panchayats in various Districts of J&K (UT) and more than 30 Letter of Intents have been issued to said Panchayats for preparation and submission of Mining Plans, to get Environmental Clearance and CTO granted/issued from Competent authority.
- The Department has realized Revenue to the tune of Rs. 38.54 Crores from the Major/Minor Minerals leases/blocks, an amount of Rs. 11.17 Crores has been realized through compounding on account of illegal Mining and 6278 vehicles/machinery from people involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals have been seized during the said period. Besides, the Department has generated revenue to the tune of Rs 19611.11 lacs on account of 50% Bid amount for the minor mineral blocks put to e-auction w.e f April, 2020 to 15th of June, 2021.
- Feasibility studies were conducted for the construction of 14 Projects in UT (10 in Kashmir and 04 in Jammu Province) on the requisition received from the different Government Agencies viz , JKPCC and R&B(PWD) during the period in J&K (UT).
- Reconnaissance Geological Mapping, Bore Hole logging, Geological/Geo-Technical studies for different items and Ground water feasibility studies have been conducted at 05 locations during the period by the Department.
- 208 Welfare Schemes were formulated under Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana(PMKKKY) through the funds of DMF, in which 166 Schemes are completed with disbursement of 8.39 Crores in Kashmir Province.
- The Department has disposed of 100 Grievances of online Hon’ble Lt. Governers Cell IGRAMS during the period.
